Mares
Weatherbys registers and maintains registrations for every mare who produces a Thoroughbred foal in Great Britain.
This can be done on General Stud Book Online and is an important process for ensuring mares and their progeny can be registered into The General Stud Book or Non-Thoroughbred Register for racing and breeding purposes.
If a mare is covered in Great Britain or Ireland but the foal is due to be born abroad, then the mare doesn’t need to be registered with us, but with the Stud Book Authority in the country the foal is born.
If you acquire a mare that has already been registered as a broodmare, and wish to continue breeding to Weatherbys registered stallions, please visit General Stud Book Online to register ownership.
Alternatively, please contact us on studbook@weatherbys.co.uk or call +44 (0)1933 304808.
It is a legal requirement that you advise us when a broodmare dies, within 30 days, and return the passport, which will be recorded as void.
For any questions or queries related to broodmares please contact us on studbook@weatherbys.co.uk.
