Great Heavens, Eastern Belle and Speedy Boarding are among the high-class fillies to have won the ten-furlong Listed contest in recent years, but the most famous graduate was arguably Sea Of Class.

The daughter of Sea The Stars, trained by William Haggas for the sire’s owners the Tsui family, cruised to a two-length victory at skinny odds of 30-100 in 2018, before winning the Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks and then going down all guns blazing when a short-neck second to Enable in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Tragically, Sea Of Class died midway through her four-year-old season when colic surgery revealed she was suffering from an aggressive form of cancer.

It would be quite something, then, if Sea Just In Time, another immensely exciting Sea The Stars filly trained by Haggas for the Tsui family, were to win this season’s Agnes Keyser Fillies’ Stakes at Goodwood on Sunday.

Bred by the Tsuis out of My Timing, an unraced Street Cry half-sister to French Listed winner Beau Ideal descended from the great racemare Time Charter, she bolted up on debut at the Guineas meeting at Newmarket last month.

My Timing has already clicked with Sea The Stars to produce two other smart fillies in Sea On Time and Truthful. They achieved high ratings without getting black type, but it looks like it could be third time lucky with Sea Just In Time.

Her eight rivals on Sunday include another lightly raced dark horse in Nakheel, who broke her maiden for trainer Owen Burrows and owner Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum in a competitive heat at Ascot last month.

She is particularly well bred, being by the mighty Dubawi out of Canadian stakes winner Into The Mystic, who in turn is by Galileo out of Prix Daniel Wildenstein heroine and dual French Classic second Tamazirte. The Dubawi-Galileo cross has also produced stars Ghaiyyath, Night Of Thunder and Henry Longfellow.

The form pick is perhaps Bolsena, a close third in the Michael Seely Memorial Fillies' Stakes at York for Kevin Ryan last month.

Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum’s homebred is also bred in the deepest shade of blue, being by Kingman out of the Listed-placed Mark Of Esteem mare Reem Three, making her a half-sister to stakes winners Ajman Princess, Cape Byron, Captain Winters, Ostilio, Third Realm and Triple Time, as well as Group 1-placed Imperial Charm, not to mention the dams of this year’s Irish 2,000 Guineas victor Rosallion and promise-filled sprinter Inisherin.

Seaward, trained by Ralph Beckett for the Seaward Syndicate, comes into the race on the back of finishing last in the Oaks at Epsom nine days ago, but before that she had finished a close third behind Forest Fairy and Port Fairy in the Weatherbys E-Passport Cheshire Oaks at Chester.

She was bred by Loughtown Stud by sending Zvarkhova, a Listed-placed Makfi mare from the family of Mark Of Esteem, to the great Sea The Stars.

Ambiente Amigo finished fourth over the Agnes Keyser Fillies’ Stakes course and distance in the Height Of Fashion Stakes last month, so warrants respect.

The Gredley family’s homebred is a Postponed half-sister to Santa Anita Grade 3 third Scherzo out of Labise, a winning Azamour three-parts sister to Nantes Listed winner Partner Shift.

Lava Stream and Love You Darling have it all to do on ratings, but did at least win on their most recent starts, at Doncaster and Bath respectively.

Lava Stream, trained by David O’Meara for owner-breeder Elwick Stud, is by the exciting sire Too Darn Hot out of Stream Song, a highly rated Mastercraftsman half-sister to top-class racemare Journey, while Love You Darling, bred by Whatcote Farm Stud and trained by Ben Brookhouse for his father Roger, is a Land Force half-sister to recent Prix Allez France winner American Sonja.

Strutting looked exciting when sent out by John and Thady Gosden to score in a Wolverhampton novice stakes by clear water last November, but hasn’t shown an awful lot in her two starts this year.

The Zhang Yuesheng-owned filly could bounce back, though; there is certainly enough class in her pedigree, as she is by all-round champion Frankel out of Via Lazio, an unraced Lawman half-sister to Hong Kong Mile hero Admire Mars.

Beeley is the only one of the nine fillies declared for this year’s Agnes Keyser Fillies’ Stakes not to have won, but the Camelot filly's chances can't be dismissed, as she finished second on both her first two starts and wasn’t beaten far into fifth in the Cheshire Oaks last time.

Another trained by the Gosdens, she carries the time honoured straw silks of the Duke of Devonshire, who bred her out of Pilsley, an unraced Lope De Vega half-sister to Coronation Cup and Prix Royal-Oak victor Ask.

Indeed, there is a precedent in a maiden from this stable winning the race, as Eastern Belle had finished placed in her previous four starts without scoring before getting off the mark in stakes company a decade ago this year.
