The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly, by Galileo out of US Grade 1 heroine Daddys Lil Darling, went on to find only Soul Sister too good in the Oaks at Epsom and then struck in the Irish version at the Curragh.

She joined an illustrious list of Cheshire Oaks winners turned Classic scorers that includes Lupe, Dibidale, Shoot A Line, Swiftfoot, Bolas, Light Shift and the legendary Enable. Forever Together, another daughter of Galileo trained by O’Brien, finished second in the 2018 renewal before going one better in the Oaks.

O’Brien has declared two fillies for this year’s Cheshire Oaks, both of whom have impeccable pedigrees.

Lightly raced Leopardstown maiden runner-up Rubies Are Red was bred by Coolmore by sending Lockinge Stakes winner Red Evie to Galileo – the same mating that produced Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe heroine Found and Group 3 scorer Best In The World, later the dam of ill-fated triple Oaks laureate Snowfall.

Dundalk maiden winner Port Fairy was meanwhile bred by the O’Brien family’s Whisperview Trading and is by Australia out of Fabulae, a Fastnet Rock half-sister to last year’s Dee Stakes runner-up Alder, also by Australia. Further back it is the family of one of the Cheshire Oaks' most famous alumni, Light Shift.

O’Brien’s son Joseph trains likely race favourite Galileo Dame, who beat Rubies Are Red at Leopardstown last time. Bred by Tally-Ho Stud, she is by Galileo Gold out of the winning Mount Nelson mare Two For Tea, a Mount Nelson half-sister to Alder and Fabulae. She is therefore a ‘cousin’ of Port Fairy.

Ralph Beckett fields two runners who appear to hold fairly decent chances, in six-length Wolverhampton novice stakes winner Forest Fairy and last year’s Ascot scorer Seaward, not beaten out of sight when seventh behind Ylang Ylang in the Fillies’ Mile.

Forest Fairy, bred by Mount Eaton Stud, is a first-crop daughter of Arc victor Waldgeist out of Bahama Girl, a winning daughter of Lope De Vega descended from the great German champion Borgia, while Seaward, bred by Loughtown Stud, is by Sea The Stars out of the Listed-placed Makfi mare Zvarkhova, a relation to champion miler Mark Of Esteem.

John and Thady Gosden’s entrant Beeley and the Andrew Balding-trained Lasting Love are, like Rubies Are Red, both maidens who have finished placed on each of their two starts and can’t be discounted in spite of their lack of a previous victory.

Beeley, carrying the silks of owner-breeder the Duke of Devonshire, is by Camelot out of Pilsley, an unraced Lope De Vega half-sister to Coronation Cup victor Ask, and Lasting Love, bred by Stone Roses Bloodstock, is by Lope De Vega out of Yarrow, a Listed-placed Sea The Stars half-sister to the brilliant talent Golan.

Completing the field for this year’s Cheshire Oaks are Ambiente Amigo, trained by James Owen, and Flying Finn, in the care of Adrian Paul Keatley. The former was bred by owners the Gredley family and is by Postponed from the family of Irish Derby winner Grey Swallow, and the latter is by Phoenix Of Spain and related to the Group 1-winning siblings Dank, Eagle Mountain and Sulk.
